Alpe Amaro
Produced by the small, family-run Distilleria Alpe in the remote town of Hône in Italy's Val d’Aosta region, this classic alpine amaro draws its bold character from over twenty locally foraged herbs, roots, and flowers harvested from the surrounding mountains. Key botanicals include gentian, artemisia (genepy), mint, rhubarb root, cardamom, wormwood, and star anise. The fresh herbs are picked in August, dried, then infused in neutral alcohol for about a month; part of the infusion is re-distilled for clarity and persistence before sweetening with beet sugar and bottling at 38% ABV. Boldly bitter yet balanced, it captures the wild essence of the Alps and makes an outstanding digestif - neat, on ice, or in cocktails like a rugged Paper Plane or alpine-inspired Old Fashioned.
