Sangallo Amaro Camatti 750ml

Sangallo Amaro Camatti 750ml

Camatti Amaro is a Genovese specialty, first made by pharmacist Umberto Briganti in 1923 and named after his wife. Bitters were originally prepared by the local pharmacist and prescribed for their healing properties. After disappearing from the market for several decades, Stefano Bergamino and Camilla Moggia of Distilleria Sangallo in Monterosso al Mare acquired the rights to produce Amaro Camatti, remaining faithful to the original (and secret) recipe of Umberto. It has a unique taste of China and Gentian with menthol and amaretto. Best served neat and cold from the fridge.

Expert Review

“Bright, minty, and nimble with perfect balance of bitter and sweet. Complex suggestions of bitter orange, mint, gentian root, almond, and spicy cola notes (cinnamon and vanilla). Lighter and more approachable than many Alpine amari, with a refreshing menthol touch and lingering citrus zest.” – Eataly, Astor Wines, Skurnik, and World Liqueur Awards notes

The Frenchman Says

"This Ligurian mint charmer skips into the glass like a fresh coastal breeze from the Italian Riviera, swirling with bold mint, juicy bitter orange, almond sweetness, and a gentle gentian tease – light, balanced, and endlessly refreshing, it leaves you invigorated and ready for another versatile, delightful sip."
